contextualization and localization in lesson planning
3. equip the teachers with
practical tools to implement standards effectively
4. link local heritage and community resources to curriculum competencies
II. Review of Learning Standard
What are Learning Standard?
Learning Standard defines what learners should know, understand, and be able to do at each grade level. They serve as our guide in planning, delivering, and assessing lessons.
Key Reminders:
·
Content Standards – What learners need to know
(facts, concepts, principles)
·
Performance Standards – What learners can do with
what they know
· Most Essential Learning Competencies – Prioritize skills and knowledge to ensure continuous learning.
Steps in Reviewing Standards
1. Identify the competency from the curriculum guide
2. Break it down into simpler learning objectives
3. check prerequisites what skills learners already have?
4. Align assessment tasks directly to the standard
III. Contextualization and Localization
Why Contextualize?
·
Makes lessons relevant and meaningful to
learners
·
Increases engagement and retention
·
Preserves and promotes local culture and heritage
· Help learners appreciates their community
Our Local Resources (Baya, Ragay, Camarines Sur)
Ø Hagayhay Falls –
science (water cycle, ecosystem) MAPEH (nature appreciation)
Ø Andaya Park –
social studies, Arts, and values Education
Ø Abaca Product –
science (Landforms) arts, Physical Education
Ø Penafrancia Fiesta –
social studies, values Education, Filipino
Ø Intik – Science
(landforms, safety) values Education
Ø Gabok Hills Science (landforms0Arts, Physical Education
How to Contextualize Lessons:
1. Start with the standard - identify what competency you need to teach
2. connect to local life – use examples, stories, places and product
from Baya/Ragay
3. Use local Materials Real object, Photos, Community stories
4. Involve the community – invite resource person where appropriate

Align all Tests activities with the stated standards
·
Used varied assessment method (written, performance,
observation)
·
